Web Reporting Tools Available with Urchin

10 Free Moniker Tools

Monte: And so it sounds like that Urchin’s a company that’s not just providing the information, but it sounds like you really truly help people be successful with their data by some of the tools that you provide. So it sounds like that’s one of your industry differentiators.

Brett: Absolutely. And that’s--I mean, that’s the whole thing right there, if we can help you, our goal is to help you be successful online. If you’re successful, you’re gonna be a continued customer of ours, and that is the--that exact reason is why so many hosts like to implement Urchin into their system, because they know if they can help their customers be successful, they’re gonna be longtime customers of theirs, as well. So there is definitely a symbiotic relationship there with the host, with the customer, with us. We’re not just trying to take peoples money and run, we’re in this for the long haul, to try and help people, you know, get the most out of their online experience as they can.

Monte: Right. And speaking about the money that they spend, give us an idea of what Urchin costs, you know--

Brett: Sure.

Monte: --how to--what are the different price breaks and what does it cost for just the basic package, and then to get into something that really gives people the tools that they need to be successful.

Brett: Absolutely. You know, we’ve really tried to reach as broad of an audience as possible, while still maintain a fairly simple focus on what we’re doing with our products, right, so the way our models are structured is that you can get Urchin for free with your hosting company. It’ll probably be a base version, and if you’re just starting out and $20 a month is what you’re paying for hosting, you’re gonna get analytics that are kind of tailored for that size customer.

Monte: Right, right.

Brett: But as you start driving more and more traffic, you’re gonna need--and not just driving traffic, but spending time and, you know, money to do this, it’s gonna be much more valuable to you to have the reporting tools in place that are gonna tell you the much more detailed analysis of the multi-session conversion tracking that we were talking about. And so when you--you know, it’s start out at, you know, from us, retail it starts out at $895 for the base software, and it goes up to $5,000 for the full campaign tracking software.

Monte: Right.

Brett: And then, we also--that’s for the software version. And then we also have an on-demand version, which is an ASP’d or hosted by us, you know, it’s a service, and that version costs $495 a month.

Monte: $495 a month? Okay.

Brett: Right, and that--what you’re gonna get out of that is these are for people who are spending, you know, thousands of dollars trying to drive traffic to their site. They have a real investment, and they’re saying, you know, I can’t just be throwing the money at the problem without knowing, you know, if there’s something I can be doing to improve it.

Monte: Right.

Brett: And there’s always something you can do to improve it.

Monte: Right. So some people might find that expensive, but when you really break it down, I mean, we are talking about, you know, people that are making their livings on the web, you know, this is what they do for a living, and probably nothing is--I mean, there are a lot of things that are important, like building your brand, building your identity, making sure you’re covered, do the SEO work, but this is part of that. You can’t be successful unless you understand what people are doing on your website, where they’re coming from, how to make your site perform better based off of the information and the knowledge that you have, so that you can better serve them, not only now, but into the future, and offer new products and services. So I think it’s a great investment and, you know, that’s something that people should be buying, and I’m sure that’s what you’re seeing, or else you wouldn’t have any customers.

Brett: Exactly. I mean, and it’s amazing, you know, at this show in particular, how many more people have been attending these sessions, where the vendors get a chance to sit on the panel and speak. You know, it used to be that we had a half a room, a small room at that, and now we’ve got these rooms that are--

Monte: Yeah, massive rooms, full.

Brett: --you can--yeah. It’s like they have double rooms now, where they have to open the false walls--

Monte: Right.

Brett: --and expand it out the back, and they’re completely full, standing room only. It’s pretty neat to see.

Monte: Yeah, definitely.

Brett: It obviously indicates the interests in analytics and people realizing that it’s the second half of the business model of, you know, buying keywords or anything else to drive traffic online.
